De-masking the Bridges

De-masking the Bridges

"De-masking the Bridges" is a soundwalk that will explore the small triangle between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge in DUMBO.

Sounds from subway cars and auto traffic on the two bridges dominate the area. These sounds "mask" the other sounds and create a very dense soundscape. By walking, listening closely, attuning ourselves to the architecture and performing listening exercises, we will more fully experience the Masking Effect, a psycho-acoustic phenomenon, and uncover sonic events as they unfold in the neighborhood.

This walk holds 12 people.
