Subterranean Homesick Streams

As seen in the Welikia Project Map, pre-colonial Manhattan was a verdant, wild place with thriving flora, fauna, and natural resources. The Manhattan of 2011...not so much. This walk will attempt to resurrect one of those long subverted resources, the north Manhattan tidal stream that nearly bisected the island until 200 years ago. Participants will listen actively and imaginatively to the East Harlem, Harlem and Morningside Heights soundscape on a meandering walk that contrasts with the inorganic grid of today.

This walk holds 10 people.
